Hull
The hull is laid up in a permanent female mold including molded in outages and inserts for bow thruster tube, transducer blocks, lightning and grounding plates, stabilizer tubes, raw water inlets, underwater exhaust, shaft logs, strut palms and rudder shafts.
The hull stringers, webs and stiffeners are either resin infused (straight longitudinal only) or hand-laid. They are of fiberglass mat and roving and/or carbon fiber with vinylester resin over foam forms. All soles and structural bulkheads are of fiberglass and foam sandwich construction and are resin infused with vinylester resin. All structure is substantially tabbed and bonded to the hull shell.
Interior Design
GIGI’s interior styling is contemporary yet understated, incorporating neutral tones and subtle textures along with loose furniture built by Westport supplier Omada and custom Fields carpets. The Millwork package, crafted inhouse by the shipyard’s veteran woodworking shop, incorporates stepped moldings in nearly every room and features madrona burl, anigre - both straight grain and figured – and intricate inlays of maple, pear and ebony. Johnson also designed small tables with inlaid sunbursts for the boat, as well as the elegant main deck dining table, which has a Fleur de Lys motif in anigre.
Complementing cherry-hued woodwork is a stonework package utilizing yard of white onyx hand-selected by Johnson for its delicate gold veining, along with accents of Rosa Damascus marble. The onyx is used to beautiful effect in the yacht’s bathrooms and particularly landing of its leather-lined central staircase. Pacific Northwest craftsman Michael Homchick did the stone installation on board.
